Hi, my name is Elijah and I am 18 years old. My goals are: (1) To live independently and manage my complex care needs with support as needed; (2) To achieve my goal of becoming an International Wheelchair Athlete; (3) Volunteering in the community learning skills and helping others.

I am a Wheelchair Athlete and hold records in Queensland and Australia. I am currently going through National Classification so I can compete internationally. The International Accreditation Team are having difficulty classifying me as I am one in a million. They have never come across a Wheelchair Athlete with as many disabilities as me, which means that they have never come across someone as legendary as me. I am very proud of the hard work and commitment that it has taken to achieve this level of competition.

In 2021 I was Young Citizen of the Year on the Gold Coast. I am proud to be recognised by my community. I have last year completed my schooling and won the AMPOL all rounder award at my school.

Melanie, the Continence Nurse from Health N Home, has assisted me to learn catheterisation, recommended the right products, and providing written reports for NDIS to ensure I can have the funding I need for the catheters and products. She has also helped me to learn to manage bowel function so I can be confident I will be able to do the things I like to do including racing. She will train the carers when I am living independently.

Continence was really important to manage or I couldn’t do the things I enjoy and excel in.

As a Support Coordinator, I confidently refer NDIS participants to Health N Home because I trust in their ability to deliver exceptional nursing services and provide me with comprehensive nurse reports.

Participant is so much happier and healthier since seeing you and receiving his continence products. He has a lot more confidence within himself now and he has nothing but good words to say about you. Thank you for your wonderful services.

Back around July 2020 I was being continually let down by my then continence nurse. I was beginning to worry as I needed to find a reliable replacement. Another nurse referred me to Melanie.

When I contacted Melanie she told me her client list quite a full but she managed to fit me in.  Since then we have built a wonderful professional relationship with many phone calls (which i prefer instead of emails although I know that’s how it is these days) texts and face to face services. At times I need Melanie at short notice and she is always obliging.

Since around September 2020 her professional knowledge, skills and expertise have helped me immensely in with on going bladder,  bowel and pressure area issues.

I must point out though that any future client who may engage Melanie’s services and advice must strongly follow this all the way to ensure the best outcome..why because she  knows exactly what she is talking about.

In addition I would happily recommend Melanie 100% (as I already have done) to anyone needing continence advice and assistance. Her involvement with me has helped open more doors in my rehabilitation and given freedom in areas where I was really struggling and confused. A real bonus for me is that she is local, unlike my previous nurse.

Sarah is an absolutely incredible continence nurse and woman. Kathy has previously experienced very traumatic SPC changes which causes enormous anxiety. Sarah has managed to put Kathy at ease and makes her SPC changes manageable. Sarah is kind, patient, understanding, friendly and an absolute pleasure to have in our home monthly. We would be lost without her.
